The Cookhouse Project

The Dream

A large traditional garden that had changed hands during its life, the new gardener who lived in the house was a very keen plants person who desired more planting spaces than grass. An area for nature was also a top priority, as was a new shed!

Our Insight

The garden needed rooms and a journey to help break the space, areas to sit and watch the birds was also a priority. The practicality of gravel as a surface was addressed by using recycled gravel traps to prevent migration and also addressed the budget constraints.

Making The Dream A Reality

The planting was the key to the structure and movement within the design, the upright garden sleepers with hessian rope provided instant height with the garden also with the semi mature garden and fruit trees. The hard landscaping was softened by both the gravel walkways and the naturalistic planting. The small garden pond is now attracting a variety of wildlife with its shelving and rock entry and exit points. We do love a naturalistic garden that help promote wildlife in an urban setting.
